Jammer Splash is a new take on Match Three games like Bejeweled. It shakes up the format by removing the swapping mechanic and replacing it with a popping and merging mechanic. The result is that Jammer Splash has a more thoughtful and deliberate gameplay.
I was hired at Big Blue Bubble as their level designer for Jammer Splash. While I was there I designed the 225 levels that were found in the game. The first twenty levels were the most challenging, and I must have remade them at least a dozen times!
It was interesting work, comparing my predictions of player behaviour to data gathered during the soft launch. Working at Big Blue Bubble was a great introduction to building games in a professional environment, and playing board games and Pathfinder at lunch every other day was a fun bonus.
